Matthew Hurtt is the Director of External Relationships for Americans for Prosperity Foundation's Grassroots Leadership Academy. In that capacity, he travels the country building communities that break down barriers which prevent people from realizing their potential.
Previously, Hurtt helped raise millions of dollars for conservatives as a copywriter for Response America, a direct mail fundraising firm in Alexandria. Before that, Matthew managed the campaign of then-State Senator Alex X. Mooney.
In 2009, Matthew joined the staff of the Leadership Institute as a Regional Field Coordinator, where he identified, recruited, and trained university students in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and his home state of Tennessee. He also began teaching grassroots activists how to organize for the conservative candidate or cause of their choice. Since 2009, he has trained thousands of activists at LI headquarters in Arlington and across the country.
Matthew was the former Chairman of the Arlington Falls Church Young Republicans, one of the largest Young Republican clubs in the country, and was a Ron Paul-supporting, Mitt Romney-bound delegate from Virginia to the Republican National Convention in 2012. Hurtt also served as an at-large delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
He has been published in a number out outlets and has appeared on local, national, and even international television and radio as a conservative activist.
Hurtt lives in Arlington, Virginia.
