In this class, you will look at professional speeches that are well-written, persuasive, and cogent. Michael will discuss the primary components of Speechwriting, including research, argument development, formatting, and more.

Michael Connolly

Michael Connolly

Michael Connolly was most recently the Deputy Chief of Staff to Sen. Mike Lee before starting his own consultancy.

Prior to that, he worked as the Staff Director at the Office of the Vice Chairman of the US Congress Joint Economic Committee in 2017 and served as the Senior Policy Advisor to the US Congress Joint Economic Committee from 2011-2012.

Michael Connolly has also worked as the Director of Communications from 2009 through 2011 for Club for Growth, a leading free-enterprise advocacy group.

Mr. Connolly has a wide range of experience in public service ranging from Senior Communications Advisor to Senator Jim DeMint, Speechwriter for FEMA and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, and served as the Press Secretary on the House Judiciary Committee. Michael also spent some time as an English Composition Teacher at The Avalon School, and was a Consultant for the DCI Group.

Connolly has a bachelor's degree in the English Language and Literature/Letters from Virginia Tech.
